Parent-Teacher Interviews

Thank you for submitting your Google Meet links for the upcoming February Parent-Teacher Interviews. Your Google Meet links have now been updated in PickAtime. Please review your PickAtime schedule to ensure that your link is correctly populated, in order to avoid any confusion prior to the schedule being released to the parent community.

Additionally, please confirm that your lunch and other breaks have been scheduled accurately in PickAtime, as PTIs will take place on 2 days: February 12 and February 20. Once the system closes to parents on February 3 at 11 PM, you will be able to print your schedule on February 4 for reference.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Yogita.

April 9 and April 10 Calendar Change

In observance of the final day of Passover on April 9, we have adjusted our April reporting schedule.

Please note that the late start, originally scheduled for April 9, has been moved to Friday, April 10. During this time, departments are asked to work collaboratively to review and edit reports. All verifications will now be due by 12:45 p.m. on April 10.

We will be messaging families and students directly to ensure they are aware of this schedule change. The Report Planning Pathway document has been edited to reflect this change and Google Calendars will be adjusted to reflect these changes. No other adjustments to the reporting process have been made.

Thank you for your flexibility and hard work!

Follow Up from January PD: Invitation from OISE

Following the invitation from Dr. Jen Gilbert in January, please get in touch with Kim MacKinnon if you are considering a graduate-level professional learning opportunity through OISE! The department of Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning has a tuition discount available for UTS as a partner school. There are part-time and “flex” options designed for full-time working students, and we can also explore single course options if we have a group of interested staff around a specific topic.

Seeking Teachers to Host Practicum Placements

We have sixteen teacher candidates from our UTS cohort looking for a practicum placement this winter! Subjects include: English, Math, French, History, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Music, Art. The block runs from Feb 17 through to April 7. There is a $250 honorarium from OISE and a thank you lunch hosted in the spring for all host teachers. Please email Kim MacKinnon if you have any questions and/or are interested!

Call for Committee Members: University Partnerships

Eureka is looking for staff members who may be interested in participating on a University Partnerships “sprint” committee. We will meet approx 3 times between now and June, over a lunch period (food provided). The committee will explore issues and opportunities related to building strong, meaningful connections with U of T (e.g. MT program, research partnerships, possibilities for ongoing professional learning, student learning). Please email Kim MacKinnon if you have any questions and/or are interested!

Equity Survey

A sincere thank you this week to everyone supporting the equity and inclusion survey. We recognize that the survey was an addition to a week that was already a demanding one starting with a snow day. As of yesterday, our return rate was 90%. This is in advance of the follow-up that usually happens for the survey for those who were absent or out for co-curriculars. We (Nas, Kim and Christine) were feeling some apprehension on the platform switch!

We appreciate the students and staff who have already provided feedback on the process and next year's considerations. If you have any other thoughts, please let Nas, Kim MacKinnon and Christine Balt know. Chat in the hallway, email, or drop in is welcome! Feedback on scheduling or otherwise, please

provide feedback here.

Wharton Investment Competition Success!

One team from UTS made it through to the semi-finals of the 2025-2026 Wharton Global High School Investment Competition, edging out over 2300+ other teams from high schools around the globe: The Kpop Demon Dealmakers!  Please congratulate the team on their success!  The team consists of Kevin (S5), Kushad (S5), Daniel (S5), Perry (S5) and Denis (S5).  The Kpop Demon Dealmakers are 1 of 50 semifinalists and only 1 of 3 teams from Canada to advance to the semi-finals!

According to Wharton, “This year's Investment Competition was highly competitive, with more than 2,300 final reports submitted by teams from 79 countries. Submissions were reviewed by a team of Wharton evaluators and Aberdeen Investments, a global asset management firm, and 50 teams were selected to advance to the Semifinals.”

A special acknowledgement goes out to Frank Li ‘12, Angela Chen ‘13, and Max Bai ‘16 for all of their advice and guidance to the UTS teams who competed in the Wharton Investment Competition.
